Outstanding time saver! Cuts through drywall like butter, leaving a perfect hole for single gang old work box.
Simple tool. Definitely speeds up the job. Indeed an essential tools for us!
It works great when cutting in drywall, but takes more time. It does only work for single grange cut outs! It does not work for any other style of cutouts! BUT it certainly works for any type of ceiling tile cutouts! soft, hard, fiber, all types!
I was a bit weary about ordering this but I thought to myself, I've wasted more money on worse things in the past so I decided to give it a try. They work amazing and I’ve since bought the double gang cutout as well. It’s a bit shaky to get it started so I would recommend that would just push from the get go. If you ease into it, they jump around a bit when starting but if you just dive in, they get going. At least on drywall. I have not actually used them on anything else. I mainly do remodeling and add a lot of low voltage spots like Ethernet and RG6 but have ran plenty of new switches as well. Don’t waste time with a keyhole saw anymore. This is half the time.
Where have you been all my life? LOVE this device. Takes a firm hand, don't be timid, and make sure there is not a stud behind where you want to place the junction box. I put a sheet of paper, blue-taped to the baseboard, to capture all the dust. There will be dust. But the cutout chunk also is FANTASTIC to use for taking to paint store to get a perfect match if needed.
Installed 280 2x4 boxes in drywall in the last year on one project. Works fantastic!
If you need to do 4x4 box just make two holes side by side. Big time saver!!
Super easy to use, clips onto almost any oscillating tool. Give it a small rock back and forth and let the tool do the work. Give it a firm press until the blades bite into the drywall, then just let the tool do the cutting. A++ I just ordered another for my toolbox as a backup.
This product worked great. It is much better than using a saw. It cuts clean and accurately. I used it with an "Old Work Outlet Box" that I found on Amazon and I had a new cable/phone outlet in the wall in about 15 minutes (not including running wire).
